Sit,
and wait,
for the divine inspiration
from the mystic muse
who transposes her beauty onto paper
through mundane and mortal hands.
Without her the slate is blank,
filled only with a mockery of truth.
Unless of course the devil speaks
with wispy whispers that tantalize the nerves
and empower our pens with a seductive fury.
But neither muse nor devil may be called on,
at the whims of directionless ink.
